Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone, including young people from Grade 9 and upwards.

? People wanting to find out more about Christianity,

? New Christians,

? Newcomers to Church,

? Couples preparing for marriage and ,

? “Old” Christians wanting to “brush up” on their faith.

What happens at
Alpha?

Each evening will include a meal, a time of praise and celebration, a ±45 minute video presentation by Nicky Gumbel and a time of discussion on the following topics:

Week

1. Who is Jesus?

2. Why did Jesus die?

3. How can I be sure?

4. Why and how should I read my Bible?

5. Why and how do I pray?

6. How does God guide us?
Holy Spirit Weekend
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Spirit?

7. How can I resist evil?

8. Why and how should I tell others?

9. Does God heal today?

10. What about the Church?

11. How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

Alpha is for . . . . .

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian Faith. People of all ages are welcome.
Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.
People meeting together. An opportunity to meet people and get to know them over a meal.
Helping one another. Small-group discussion gives you a chance to discuss issues important to you.
Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is considered too simple, “silly” or too hostile.

History of Alpha in Piketberg

All Alpha courses are open to everyone in the community.

Four Alpha courses have been completed in the Piketberg Area:

one in the NG Church mothers room, done on a Wednesday evening. (Completed)
one done on a Friday morning in a fellowship group. (Completed)
one done in the Piket-bo-berg area. (Completed)
one done at Voorberg Prison near Porterville. (completed July 2003)

The Voorberg Alpha Course was very successful. The people involved were the Chaplain, and two other ministers who work at the prison, along with eight religious workers, including Chris who normally minister at the prison. Below are some pictures of the people involved.
